Because a portrait for a profile, a press kit or a book has to be repeatable, and daylight in Spain is not. A photograph made outdoors in Seville in October and another made in Bilbao in February are two different pictures of the same person, and if they are going on the same website that is a problem rather than a variation. Controlled light removes the weather from the decision entirely.
The session runs an hour with two lighting set-ups and two backgrounds, which is enough for a formal frame and a relaxed one without turning into a costume change. The selection is made together at the end rather than sent as a gallery of four hundred near-identical frames: you will be better at choosing your own face with someone else in the room, and it takes ten minutes instead of a week of second-guessing.
Twenty-five retouched photographs, delivered to a private gallery within 48 to 72 hours, cropped square, 16:9 and vertical so the same portrait works on LinkedIn, on a company page and in a printed programme without anybody re-cropping it badly.
Frequently asked questions about Studio portrait
What should I bring?
Two or three plain tops, and whatever you actually wear to work. Fine stripes and small checks shimmer on screen; solid mid-tones do not.
How do we choose which photographs get retouched?
Together, on the screen, before you leave. Twenty-five is enough to be spoilt for choice and few enough to go through in ten minutes, and you know better than we do which face is yours.
