An event has a news cycle of about eighteen hours. A gallery delivered five days later is an archive; a first selection of twenty delivered while people are still in the room is a communications tool, and it is the difference between photography that gets used and photography that gets filed. So the deliverable is split: twenty edited frames within three hours, then the full set.
What those twenty are is decided in advance rather than chosen from what happened to be shot. A keynote wide enough to show a full room, a speaker at the lectern, two audience frames that are not the backs of heads, the sponsor signage in a usable crop, and people talking in the breaks — which is the part most event photographers under-shoot and the part that actually looks like a company people would want to work for.
Four hours on site and 200 retouched photographs in a private gallery within five days. Longer events and multi-room congresses are quoted individually, because the honest number depends on how many rooms run at once and not on how many hours are booked.

Can we post the same day?

How long is the photographer on site?
Four hours, and you choose which four. For a congress that usually means the opening, the keynote and the coffee break, because those are the three the communications team will actually use.
Do you need a shot list?
Only for the people who must appear. Everything else — room, stage, audience, signage, candid work in the breaks — is covered by default, and a list of names saves more time than a list of moments.
