Two things make a newborn session work and both of them are logistical rather than photographic. The first is that it happens at your home: a two-week-old baby should not be driven across a city to a studio, and the room the baby actually sleeps in is a better background than a studio set dressed to look like one. The second is that two hours are booked for roughly forty minutes of photography.
That gap is deliberate. A feed is not an interruption to be worked around — it is most of what a newborn does, and the calm forty minutes afterwards is when the photographs happen. A session booked for one hour spends that hour waiting and then rushing, which is how you get a set of pictures of a crying baby and two exhausted parents.
Thirty retouched photographs, delivered to a private gallery within five days, including frames with both parents and with older siblings. The session is booked during the pregnancy on a due date rather than a fixed day, and the date moves at no charge.
